No 4 Parliament Street

No 4 Parliament Street is uniquely Ireland’s and Dublin’s oldest merchant house which was fully restored by Idcirco Limited winning the international Diaphoros Award in the process.

The building is a protected structure under Dublin City Council’s current Development Plan and is situated within a Conservation Area and lies within a Zone of Archaeological Interest.

A much loved institution of Dublin and originally established as a cutlers in 1670, the Read family at No 4 Parliament Street are world renowned for the manufacture and sale of cutlery, swords, instruments and grooming products for over 340 years for Dublin’s nobility, gentry and grand tourists and was also the home of Arthur Guinness’s mother and deemed to be the spiritual home of the Guinness family in Dublin.

Having acquired the building which was in a state of dereliction and following an extensive planning, restoration and conservation programme, Idcirco has crafted a careful balance between old and new. Stepping in to No 4 Parliament Street now is to step in to a shop and house interior that would be recognisable to customers who made purchase here in the eighteenth century.
